Happy weekend!

Updated: Mar 29, 2022

There is only 1 week to go to the marathon and, once again, I reflect on the parallels between running a marathon and running my coaching business.

The training for the marathon has been long, constant, emotional and – as an old colleague from Yorkshire always used to say to me: character building!

You can’t train for a marathon overnight and neither can you establish a business overnight. Once upon a time, both the thought of running a coaching business or running a marathon were not even something I dared to dream of and yet here I am, after a week of new beginnings and lots of work, reflecting on my journey.

I am excited about the marathon next week, a little nervous and a little trepidatious. Yet my confidence in my ability to run has grown over the weeks and I now know that I can run at least 25.2 miles because I physically did that last week. I also feel almost sad at the thought of completing the marathon and not having such a big milestone on the horizon, since training for it has become such a big part of my weekends.

In terms of my coaching business and the journey to establish a client base, I am not as close to the finish line as I am in my marathon training. Yet I am savouring these moments and reminding myself that this phase is magical and that I don’t need to sprint. I am jogging at a steady pace, just like I will do next week, already honoured by a handful of clients who have chosen me for their coaching journey. In fact, for my coaching business, there is no finish line in mind, just the joy of running and helping people.

Thank you for everyone who is running with me physically and metaphorically 🙂

Happy weekend everyone!
